Several weeks ago, I had two pressing thoughts. The first was a desire to visit the Catskill Mountains in New York because it always looked so beautiful, and I had never been. The second was how much I wanted to record the kid songs I had just finished writing (with my talented husband, Chris, on accompaniment) but I wasn’t sure where to go. It had been a while since I properly recorded anything, and the world has changed a lot since then!
Apparently, the Universe heard my thoughts (in a freaky “that Facebook Ad just read my mind” kind of way) because both wishes came together in ONE package at..…
THE ROSCOE PARTY FARM!

I’ve been very fortunate, in my more active performing days, to sing alongside some incredible people and gifted musicians. Terry Brennan is one such incredible person/gifted musician and he (and his wonderful and also musically gifted wife, Wendy) just so happened to launch The Roscoe Party Farm; a boutique recording/producing/mixing/mastering/wizarding studio nestled in the CATSKILL MOUNTAINS!
Bravo, Universe. Bravo.
My husband and I took a kid-free trip up to the Catskills this past weekend to breathe in some fresh air and lay down some tracks! We kicked things off with a grown-up playlist on the way there. Lots of 90’s hits were enjoyed on the 2+ hour trek.

When we arrived at “the Farm”, we were greeted by 360 degrees of lush mountain views, a super chill Bald Eagle in a tree, the soothing babblings of a gorgeous river, Terry, Wendy, and the snuggliest snuggle puppy named Pepper. She’s a puppy, but also the size of a small horse. I was immediately obsessed, of course, of course.

Terry, Chris, and I spent the afternoon recording guitar, ukulele, lead vocals, and vocal harmonies. Trade secret: you can increase vocal stamina with yoga and aggressive flossing dance moves.

And then…..AND THEN…..we recorded a reading of my book, “A Firefly’s Journey” with a few special guest voices!

With beast-mode level productivity from all parties, we were able to knock out everything we needed to, which then allowed us to do some PARTYIN. Specifically at the private bowling alley underneath the production space….no big deal!

So now we await all of the “behind the curtain” magic that goes into producing, mixing, mastering, etc.!
And I MUST highlight Wendy, aka Hostess Extraordinaire, who went all out with catering our meals. Half of our band has some dietary restrictions (me!) and she thoughtfully prepared every dish to accommodate my sad dairy-free life. A+ hospitality at the Farm!
Overall, this was one of the best weekends we’ve had in a while. The Party Farm is a gem, and I look forward to seeing all of the fun things that Terry and Wendy (and Pepper!) accomplish there. Check ‘em out: https://roscoepartyfarm.com/
Stay tuned for release date info! Thanks for reading. 🙂
